“ ——  what do you mean you’re going on a date?” she shot up almost instantly from where she’d been sprawled out half-naked on the bed, eyebrows drawn in together in shock. fallon made a rather non-committal gesture between the two of them, as if that would explain what she was trying to say without words. “what about like… this?”

"i am... really sorry. i wasn't expecting an actual kid — i haven't seen any children in my apartment block! i didn't think there would be any at the door." she at least has the nerve to look sheepish, though how well it translates is up for debate with her costume head tucked beneath her arm.

"you weren't invited?" fallon laughs a little bit at that, if only because it means things worked in her favour that evening. "yeah!" she chirps with a nod, "it was good. i had fun." she knows she's supposed to get out of the car now but instead, glances around. "did you... have any other plans for the weekend?"

"hey babe?" after hearing the front door open fallon peeked her head out of the half-way-done nursery and offered them a bright smile. "i dropped the brush on the floor and if i bend down i'm not sure i'm going to get back up again any time fast..." she may be unable to see her toes but that wasn't going to stop her from decorating, entirely set on finishing the little mural she was painting, even if they'd asked her to wait for their return. "help?" she requested, as her smile widened with feigned innocence.

"but that one looks really familiar!" despite her insistence, fallon didn't want to get much closer to the tree to look. veering even a few steps off the path seemed like a bad idea. she glanced around them before looking back in the direction isla had pointed in, "i guess if we've been going this way all this time, it makes sense to keep going but... i really didn't think the walk was supposed to be this long. it should've taken two hours, three tops."
